Finding Beauty Within

I saw this when I was walking with my family at Deer Creek Reservoir, a place near where I live. Which caused me to reflect on knowing a lady who changed her name to weed. When I asked her why she choose that name she said I was in an area that had a lot of beautiful plants and I asked my friend what they were called and she said they were weeds. How many times do we over look the beauty around us because we think that what we see or are going through are weeds that are no good to us? I thought what does it take for a weed to grow through the asphalt? It takes determination, perseverance, strength, and a willingness to become what is it meant to be. I have thought about this and how it can apply to my own life. How many times have we been covered by asphalt in the form of being beaten down by life, people (friends, family and being critical of ourselves), circumstances beyond our control etc. I see the asphalt as these things that come down around us and we think everything is dark and we are at an end with nowhere to go. But this weed had a drive for life and a willingness that I believe we need to have to become what we are meant to become and remember who we are. When we remember who we are and love our selves we can do anything. There is nothing that love can't heal and starting with ourselves is the best place to start. We can't give anything we don't already have.
